Working together for a greener and fairer Alkmaar

At Royal Ingredients Group, we believe sustainability is just as important at home as it is wherever we do business. And while our ingredients travel to customers all over the world, our headquarters and roots remain firmly in Alkmaar. That’s why we are proud to be part of Global Goals Alkmaar, a local network that connects people and organisations who want to make our city more sustainable, fair and connected.

Our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) shapes how we do business, from promoting fair work in our supply chains to reducing our environmental footprint. By joining this local initiative, we can bring our global expertise into our own community, working side by side with others who share the same vision for a better future.

What Global Goals Alkmaar does
Global Goals Alkmaar is a platform for social and green initiatives in our city. They inspire, advise and support anyone with an idea that can make Alkmaar a better place to live and work. From small neighbourhood projects to larger business-driven plans, they help turn good intentions into real impact.

Their vision is simple but powerful: a community where residents, businesses and the local government all work together for more well-being, fairness and sustainability. They aim for at least 25% of Alkmaar’s people and organisations to actively contribute to one or more SDGs. And they make it easy to get involved – even if that just starts with a coffee and a conversation about your idea.

Why we are part of it
Being part of Global Goals Alkmaar connects us with other local organisations that share our values. It’s a chance to learn from each other, inspire new projects, and show that change really can start on your own doorstep.

This local network allows us to:

  • Join forces with other purpose-driven organisations in Alkmaar

  • Share our sustainability efforts close to home

  • Help shape a community that reflects the values of the Global Goals

Our focus areas
The SDGs cover 17 global goals, but we have chosen six that align most closely with what we do and how we operate:

  • Good Health & Wellbeing (SDG 3) – Creating a safe, inclusive and healthy workplace

  • Gender Equality (SDG 5) – Encouraging fairness and equal opportunities for all

  • Decent Work & Economic Growth (SDG 8) – Supporting fair labour practices throughout our supply chain

  • Responsible Consumption & Production (SDG 12) – Promoting sustainability in the way we source and handle ingredients

  • Climate Action (SDG 13) – Reducing our environmental footprint locally and globally

  • Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) – Building collaborations that deliver real impact


Local action, global vision
We believe sustainability is not just about long-term corporate goals, it’s about what we do today, in our own community. Our collaboration with Global Goals Alkmaar lets us connect that local action to our global vision.
