Emmanuel’s journey into the world of grains and seeds

My name is Emmanuel, I’m 30 years old and originally from Venezuela. I’ve been part of the Royal Ingredients team for about nine months now, heading the Grains and Seeds Department. In my role, I’m responsible for managing our grains and seeds portfolio across different parts of the world, both organic and conventional. It’s a fast-paced job that keeps you on your toes and that’s exactly what I love about it.

Always learning, always growing
Working in this industry means you’re constantly learning. You meet people from different countries and cultures, follow markets that change every week, and discover something new about the products we work with almost daily. Even after four years in this field, I wouldn’t call myself an expert. But I have built up a solid understanding of the market thanks to a lot of curiosity, persistence, and the support I’ve received from the team at Royal.

Visiting the heart of our supply chain
In May, I had the chance to travel to South America. This continent is important in our grains and seeds supply chain, especially for products like chia and quinoa, which are key for our department. It was the kind of trip that gives you a fresh perspective. Not from a desk or a market report, but from walking through real crop fields and standing inside the processing plants where the work truly begins.

Seeing beyond the product
Being involved with these products daily is one thing, but visiting the fields and meeting the farmers is something else entirely. I met some of our strategic partners, saw how the crops are handled in the field, and learned more about the care that goes into growing organic and conventional grains. There is a lot of passion and knowledge behind these products. Things you can’t always capture in numbers or specs.

Looking ahead with purpose
This trip gave me valuable input for planning the 2025 to 2026 chia. But beyond that, it reminded me why I enjoy this business so much. It’s about relationships, long-term thinking, and being close to the people and places that make what we do possible.

Staying close to the source
At Royal, we talk a lot about quality and reliability. Trips like this are how we keep that promise. By being present, asking questions, and staying connected to the origins of what we offer. Especially when it comes to organic products, that connection matters.
